Did some refactoring, optimized a few things, fixed multiline text rendering. I should do something screenshottable tomorrow :blobpeek:

Just a little something that came to my mind that I just had to put to page...

Your periodic reminder that in 1997, QNX developed a 1440 kiB demo floppy that contained the following:

* QNX 4 POSIX-compatible realtime microkernel
* Your choice of either Hayes modem drivers, or wired ethernet drivers for a few common NICs at the time (NE1000/2000, DEC Tulip, 3c509)
* VGA and VESA video drivers
* Photon windowing system
* A completely modern HTML 3.2+JavaScript web browser(!), with a bundled JavaScript game (Towers of Hanoi)
* A graphical text editor and a little demo animation
* A package manager to bring other apps in over the internet has some screenshots and download links.

I tried some blogging so here is a post about getting started with game development using unity3d. I wrote way more than intended initially. I had a handful of links and it grew #gamedev

hey everyone writing code: you can't get around this. code does not exist in a noble mathematical void which absolves you of accountability. any system which people touch is tied into the fabric of society, and should be scrutinized for potential to do harm.

Trying to search discussions and developments about imguis in general just results in dear imgui stuff. Bah.

Suggestions for interesting blogs? I'm interested in programming, rust, gamedev, decentralization and adjacent stuff.

If you personally have a blog, just go ahead and post it, I'm interested in what kinds of stuff the fedi blogs about :blobreach:

So I've been porting the open-source :opensource: mmorpg / MUD game I've been writing here (in java :Java: )

The new game is written in Ruby :ruby: same idea though. It can be found here now

It is a text based multi-player online game called a MUD. You don't even need a client to play, just telnet in to the server.

I've been working on porting over and improving the code that renders an area map. I finally have all the functionality ported over! I attached a screen shotto show what it looks like.

#java #ruby #mud #mmorpg #game #gamedev #gaming #opensource #rpg

Yay, I'm done with the first part of making this GUI library! Got sprite rendering, text rendering, input handling. Next is... More element types and layout.

That's going to be the hard part, I feel like.

every first person videogame should give you the option of carrying around a high quality camera with zoom-in functionality & you can build a portfolio of ingame photography

I'm stumped. Anyone with experience in , specifically , any ideas? I'm using gpu_cache, and it seems to *sometimes* work. I just can't seem to find anything that would cause this kind of behavior. I'm 99% sure the problem is related to rusttype, as the artifacts are definitely in the glyph cache texture.

Amazing text rendering, and on the first try! After such a spectacular performance in the morning hours, I think I'll go and have a well earned rest now.

Finally compiled and tested llvm. During the whole process, I managed to bore myself watching youtube, eat some, watch some TV, come back to the computer, read Mastodon a bit, and now it seems to be finishing. I'd estimate it took a bit over an hour.

Manually compiled packages are sometimes are real heck.

yeah sex is great but have you ever thought about making a fucking videogame

Not sure if sympathize is the correct term. Emphatize?
