@drequivalent I agree, XMPP is dead right now, but it doesn't need to be:

* Define a new catchy name.
* This catchy name is declared as "XMPP plus these XEPs", so everybody is on the same page on what to support.
* Implement a client for each platform, all giving them the new catchy name.

This is what Matrix did better, and where it succeeds. XMPP can learn from that and fix that.

Been playing Morrowind, it's nice. I just a realized a few pretty weird things though: 1) Morrowind is almost as old as me, 2) 2002 is as far from now as 1985 is from 2002. That's just really bizarre. 2002 feels way closer to this day, and 1985 feels way farther, in my mind. Weird.

Whoa, just watched a youtube series about the Journey to the West and... It's like Dragon Ball, but I haven't read it yet and it also seems even cooler! Booked it (is that the right word? Like called dibs so I get to loan it next, yanno) from the library, can't wait! :tuturu:

Couldn't do assets:precompile for my Mastodon instance because it ran out of RAM. :ablobowo:

Calling all #Fediverse admins of instances in the #EU. The #CopyrightDirective is coming, we need to show the MEPs how massively the EU Internets will be affected.

We are preparing a list of all EU-based #Pleroma, #Mastodon, #GNUSocial, #Peertube, #Funkwhale, and any other instances.

Please *contact me*. All I need is the domain name, which EU Member State it's located in, and the rough topic of the instance. Approximate user count welcome, but not necessary.

Please help. This is important.

I realized this morning that I've played 4X games more than any other genre by a long margin, yet I wouldn't say it (or strategy games overall) was my favorite genre. They are fun though, they just don't make me think about them for a long time after (like, say, RPGs). Weird how that is.

Finally moved my Git server from Scaleway to one of my raspberries. Also upgraded from Gitea 1.5 to 1.7, a heatmap seems to have appeared at some point. Pretty neat, though the coloring of mine is completely wrecked by the 82 "contributions" today :blobcatsip:

i. hate sparkling water so much... Why would you do that to yourself,, it's Water that HURTS

tired: regretting using UE4 because of their licensing practices

wired: regretting using UE4 because it slows down my git server migration because god damn the projects are huge

Seems reading game engine EULAs has become a weekly tradition for me. This time, found this golden nugget in Unity's Privacy Policy: "We also include certain device data collection in the runtime of the software, which is incorporated into the applications you create with the software."

So basically, you can't make a Unity game that doesn't spy on its players. Funfunfun.
